Akita

The Akita is a dog breed of Japanese origin. The name "Akita" refers to the province where the dog originally comes from. The dog has a beautiful characteristic appearance and is known for its extreme loyalty. This dog is the national dog of Japan and plays an important role in Japanese culture. The Akita is therefore considered to be one of the oldest breeds of dog in the world and at least one of the oldest breeds in Asia. The dog was initially used for hunting. Later, he also had to fight. Dog fights were fortunately banned in Japan at a relatively early stage. Nowadays it is actually only kept as a family dog.

The dog is quite a serious animal. He is not going to lend himself to meaningless tricks. In fact, the dog only carries out tasks that are useful. During the education it is important to stimulate the animal in a positive way. The Akita is intelligent. Repeating a task over and over again will quickly bore him. It is therefore important that the dog can amuse himself during the training.
