Doberman Pinscher

The Doberman Pinscher is one of the few dog species whose name refers to the person who "created" the breed. The Doberman Pinscher was in fact bred in the 19th century by Louis Dobermann. Dobermann wanted a dog that could protect him. This was necessary, because Dobermann was a bailiff. It must have happened regularly that defaulters threatened him. To feel safer he bred the Doberman Pinscher. It is not exactly known from which species the Doberman Pinscher originally descended. The dog does show some typical similarities with Rottweilers and German Pinschers.

Dobermanns dogs are powerful dogs. In principle, of course, this applies to every dog, but for the Doberman in particular: it is not a toy. The animal is enormously powerful and can be very fierce. The Doberman Pinscher is therefore often used as a guard and defence dog. The Doberman Pincher is used by the American Marines as an official fighting dog.

However, the dog is also very loyal and social. In addition, the animal is extremely intelligent. When the dog is raised well, it is an ideal companion. The Doberman can be very affectionate. The animal is very enthusiastic and has a lot of energy. He loves to play and is crazy about children. However, it is important that the dog learns his limits. From enthusiasm he can also play too enthusiastically, which scares children.

It is therefore important that the dog has a clear boss. Someone has to be able to control the dog and not the other way around. Because the Doberman Pinscher has some dominant traits, he can sometimes be difficult to relate to other dogs. The owner of a Doberman Pinscher will have to put a lot of time in educating the dog, but also in "entertaining" and challenging him. However, he will get a warm, strong and extremely loyal four-legged friend in return.
