Teddy Roosevelt Terrier

Originally a hard worker, now a sociable family dog. That is the best way to describe the Teddy Roosevelt terrier. The cosy terrier that is named after the 26th president of the United States is a beautiful dog, with a sweet character. The dog is loving, tolerant towards other animals and can associate well with (older) children.

The Teddy Roosevelt terrier evolved from several types of other terriers that were brought from America by American immigrants. Their job was to keep the house free of vermin. The Teddy Roosevelt terrier is probably a variant of the Rat Terrier.

The Teddy Roosevelt Terrier has, it seems, an unlimited amount of energy. When the animal gets the space, he will usually be in motion. He likes to explore, to see what his master is doing, or to romp with whoever feels like it. The animals are not very difficult in character. They adapt themselves quite easily.

It can be kept in a flat, but it is important that it gets enough opportunities to use its energy and be mentally challenged. This is because the dog is quite intelligent. An important characteristic of the dog is that he is quite attached to a person. The Teddy Roosevelt Terrier is a family dog, but he reserves most of his love and loyalty for one person.

The Teddy Roosevelt Terrier is an intelligent dog that likes to please its owner. The animal is therefore not difficult to train. However, it is important that the animal is raised with much love and patience. The dog does not like hard, rough training. High praise, short training sessions and love are what this dog thrives on.
