German Shepherd Dog

The German Shepherd Dog is one of the most well-known dogs. At the same time, it is one of the most difficult dogs To describe. This is because the dog has many different characteristics. On the one hand, the dog is large, powerful and reasonably fast. On the other hand, the dog is also brave, will not hesitate to show aggression if necessary and can scare his opponents. At the same time, the dog can also be incredibly sweet and get along well with children (if raised properly). In short: the German Shepherd is a beautiful dog, with many (sometimes contradictory) characteristics.

The reason the German Shepherd has so many (good) characteristics is mainly because the dog was bred from many different sheepdogs. At the end of the 19th century, there were several different sheepdogs in different areas of Germany. A German Captain thought it would be useful to combine those breeds into one ultimate herding dog. Max von Stephanitz approached other breeders and together they laid the foundation of the German Shepherd. For 35 years they worked to refine the good qualities of this dog.

German Shepherds are extremely intelligent dogs. In addition, they really enjoy learning new things. That's why this breed is regularly used as a tracker dog, police dog and guide dog.

The German Shepherd is a real family dog and he loves family members immensely. He also likes to have them around him. He prefers not to be alone at home. If possible he will accompany the family on an outing. Although the dog will build a bond with all family members, German Shepherds are especially capable of bonding with one person, usually their owner.

In general, the dog gets along well with small children. Of course, that doesn't mean you shouldn't pay attention. The German Shepherd is a large dog and is also extremely powerful. For example, children may start teasing the dog. In those cases, a German Shepherd can stand up for himself.

To raise a German Shepherd properly requires an owner who can take charge. The dog listens well, but then the owner must be consistent and exude authority. The puppy must be well socialized. In particular, contact with other dogs is very important. In addition, it is good to raise the puppy with a positive attitude and to keep challenging him!
