Saint Bernard

Perhaps the Saint Bernard is one of the best known dog breeds out there. The Saint Bernard has a sweet, good nature. In addition, the image of the dog of course plays a huge role. Today, the Saint Bernard is probably best known for its loyalty, patience and care for children. That does not mean, however, that the Saint Bernard is a softy. The animal is immensely strong, muscular and has an impressive look when needed.

The Saint Bernard was officially recognized as a breed in 1887. The ancestors of this breed were mountain dogs, sheepdogs and Mastiffs. Of course, the dog is known as a rescue dog. Not infrequently, a Saint Bernard has tracked down snowed-in travelers and saved their lives. By the way, the Saint Bernard can save lives not only after suffering. Some Saint Bernards can also sense avalanches and earthquakes coming. In this way, they prevent suffering.

It is in the nature of the Saint Bernard to care for others. Therefore, it is generally not difficult to raise the dog. This does not mean that you should not train the animal. The Saint Bernard does need to be taught what is expected of him. If you do not do this, the result is likely that the Saint Bernard will react too enthusiastically. For example, he will jump on children. In most cases this is not meant maliciously, but it can scare children. Incidentally, the consequences can be more serious if you do not train the dog properly.
